Not All Disabilities Are Visible

International Day of People with Disabilities will take place on December 3. The campaign this year will focus on ‘Not all Disabilities are Visible’ and spreading awareness and understanding of disabilities that are not immediately apparent. These include, but are not limited to, mental illness, chronic pain or fatigue, sight or hearing impairments, diabetes, brain injuries, neurological disorders, learning differences and cognitive dysfunctions.

The COVID-19 pandemic has only increased the need to support individuals with disabilities. The virus has caused isolation, disconnect, disrupted routines and diminished services. We must work together to support one another, especially those who need our help the most!

Here at The Mall we offer a range of support for our customers. We have staff that are trained mental health first aiders. We also offer free use of wheelchairs and scooters from Accessibility, our service for shoppers who need extra assistance. We additionally have a Changing Places facility. Standard accessible toilets do not meet the needs of all people with a disability.
