Mental Health Awareness Week 2025

Cribbs is proud to support Mental Health Awareness Week 2025, which runs from 12th – 18th May.
Mental Health Awareness Week is an annual event started by the Mental Health Foundation. Each year is centred around a theme and acts to inspire discussion and encourage conversation and support. The event has grown to become one of the biggest awareness weeks across the UK and also globally. This year’s theme is “Community”.
Mental Health Foundation say:
“Being part of a safe, positive community is vital for our mental health and wellbeing. We thrive when we have strong connections with other people and supportive communities that remind us we are not alone. Communities can provide a sense of belonging, safety, support in hard times, and give us a sense purpose.”
Cribbs proudly supports our local community in many ways throughout the year.
Events
Community sits at the heart of our free events, allowing all our visitors to enjoy exciting experiences alongside their shopping trips. From our Easter, Halloween, and Christmas trails to our exciting summer Water Garden, there’s always something to do at Cribbs!
Lots of our stores are also involved in supporting the local community, supporting local charities and groups. Costa Coffee run a regular ‘Chatty Cafe’ initiative, hosting an open table for customers who may feel isolated and lonely to come along and simply talk over a coffee with others. John Lewis are a key supporter of Southmead Hospital Charity, allowing space for Christmas Carolling and other calendar event activities within their store.
Free care packages
Need period products, nappies or toiletries? Cribbs has got you covered!
In 2022 Cribbs rolled out a free care package initiative to shoppers in need. Visitors can request hygiene products, at no cost, from our Information Desk if needed during their visit.
Supporting charities in the Local Community
As a hub of the community, Cribbs is proud to support those who help so many in the local area. In 2024, Cribbs raised over £45,000 for St Peter’s Hospice, a beloved Bristol charity supporting those with life-limiting conditions.
The charity that has been selected to receive support over the course of 2025 is Bristol Children's Hospital Charity, The Grand Appeal. This is a charity that is close to the hearts of many who work at and visit Cribbs on a daily basis, and the centre will support them in various ways over 2025, including donating all of the coins thrown into Cribbs central fountain.
Mental Health First Aiders
Several members of the Cribbs team are trained in Mental Health First Aid. Mental Health First Aiders are staff members who are able to listen, offer initial support, and guide colleagues and visitors to appropriate professional help if needed.
Accessibility
We want all our visitors to enjoy their day at Cribbs. That’s why it’s been designed with accessibility in mind—and why we offer free use of wheelchairs and scooters from Cribbs Accessibility Centre, our service for shoppers who need extra assistance. Shoppers can book mobility equipment, free of charge, to use to help them navigate the centre more easily.
